Meet Our Team

East Wind Acupuncture Staff

Michael Buyze, MS, C.Ac., Dipl.Ac.
Founder – East Wind Healthcare

Acupuncturist Michael Buyze

Mike has nearly 40 years of healthcare experience. He founded East Wind in 1998 as his private acupuncture practice and has worked to grow it to the 3-location, integrated acupuncture and functional Chinese medical clinic it is today. In the past 20 years, he has overseen in excess of 50,000 acupuncture treatments to some 4000 different people and provided comprehensive wellness services to many others. He holds 3 Master's degrees including a Master of Science in Oriental Medicine from the prestigious Midwest College of Oriental Medicine, a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from UW-Oshkosh and a Master of Science in Exercise Physiology with a specialty in Preventive and Rehabilitative Cardiovascular Health (PARCH) from George Williams College where he was a member of their charter class. In the first 15 years of his career, Mike gained extensive experience in designing and implementing cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes management and wellness programs as a manager and consultant in a dozen hospitals throughout Northeastern Wisconsin which subsequently have served tens of thousands of people throughout the region.

As a healthcare entrepreneur, Mike is always looking at ways to integrate the latest technology with the ancient wisdom that is traditional Chinese medicine. This led him to medically integrate East Wind in 2014 which included adding an MD and nurse practitioner/physician assistant to create a medical services team. The addition of this team provides a structure with greater flexibility in the development of new programming and the expansion of service into areas involving the management of medications and complimenting the work already being done by the Chinese medicine practitioners at East Wind. Integrated medical services have included physical medicine and medical weight loss which have now evolved to comprehensive wellness and the management of autoimmune and other chronic disease states with a focus on identifying and fixing the true underlying cause of problems with an emphasis on lifestyle and reduction in the need for medications. Mike continues looking toward the future and is always working on better ways to help people solve their health problems and live the life they deserve.

"People will ask me about my experience with acupuncture and I love telling them about it. For regular shots I have to look away, but for the acupuncture needles I come in here with total trust. Acupuncture is working great, but more importantly I ‘m learning so many things about food, what to eat and really how to be healthy."

- M.J.N.

"I started acupuncture in August and have had 25% improvement since the initial intake. Because of my injuries, I missed 8 months of karate with my kids, but now I am going back to classes at nearly full capacity. I was willing to try anything for pain, and this has helped immensely, and I’m thankful for that."

- J.R.R.

"You are making a difference in my life- in the comfort levels I’m achieving and things I’m able to do. I don’t understand the “hows and whys” of acupuncture, but I’m grateful each day for your knowledge, skills, care, and compassion. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! You’re making my life much easier!"
