What Exactly Is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture Services

Practitioners of acupuncture in Appleton have used this form of health care to help countless numbers of people around the world.  Acupuncture has become a viable natural health care option for patients to improve their health and overall well-being.

Acupuncture is safe, non-invasive, and painless. This procedure stimulates the natural healing processes of the human body.

What is Qi?

Qi is energy within the body. As all energy flows, Qi flows throughout the body along meridians.  This flow can be interrupted, causing disruptions of energy that is vital to every cell, organ, and muscle in the human body.   At the core of this ancient medicine is the philosophy that Qi (pronounced “chee”), or vital energy, flows throughout the body. Qi animates the body and protects it from illness, pain and disease. A person’s health is influenced by the quality, quantity and balance of Qi.

How is Qi Disrupted?

Qi disruptions can be compared to a dam which blocks a stream. Just as the water of the stream is backed up, Qi backs up in the body restricting the flow throughout. This disruption is damaging to a person’s organs as it stops an important exchange of information between the tissues and cells.

There are other things that can disrupt Qi, such as; trauma, lack of physical activity, improper diet, stress, Physical and emotional trauma, stress, lack of exercise, and seasonal changes.

If this disruption of Qi remains for an extended period of time it can cause illness, pains, and fatigue, but through acupuncture, the body is able to restore itself back to a healthy state.

What Does an Acupuncturist Do?

Our practitioner, Michael Buyze will conduct a comprehensive health history to see if you would benefit from our care.  This information will allow the practitioner to construct a treatment plan that will benefit each individual patient and help them on the pathway to a healthy life and overall well-being.

When our practitioner locates the disruptions of Qi, he places sterile acupuncture needles under the skin in the corresponding areas. Again, this is painless and completely safe.  The needles stimulate areas of Qi disruption allowing flow to be restored.  When the flow is restored, the body will be more able to heal itself.

If you have additional questions about Acupuncture don't hesitate to pick up the phone and call.  Our team will be happy to assist you.

WHAT OUR PATIENTS SAY

"People will ask me about my experience with acupuncture and I love telling them about it. For regular shots I have to look away, but for the acupuncture needles I come in here with total trust. Acupuncture is working great, but more importantly I ‘m learning so many things about food, what to eat and really how to be healthy."

- M.J.N.

"I started acupuncture in August and have had 25% improvement since the initial intake. Because of my injuries, I missed 8 months of karate with my kids, but now I am going back to classes at nearly full capacity. I was willing to try anything for pain, and this has helped immensely, and I’m thankful for that."

- J.R.R.

"You are making a difference in my life- in the comfort levels I’m achieving and things I’m able to do. I don’t understand the “hows and whys” of acupuncture, but I’m grateful each day for your knowledge, skills, care, and compassion. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! You’re making my life much easier!"
